# Health Check

Hardware wallet and mobile phone devices will eventually go bad. Humidity, temperature, radiation from cosmic rays, and general wear-and-tear can damage digital devices slowly over time, corrupting the data stored on them. To prevent this resulting in the loss of funds, we have our clients periodically run a device health check on all their hardware wallets to ensure they are still working properly. The **Health Check** process signs a message which does not cost anything to the client, and a history of Health Check signatures are kept under the Detail screen for each key.
