ANNOUNCING CASA INHERITANCE
The biggest question we hear from people who self-custody their bitcoin is: “What happens if I die?”
You can have the best cold storage setup possible, but if your family doesn’t know how to access or use it, all of your bitcoin and crypto wealth is worth nothing if you aren’t there to help them.
With our latest update, Casa is making it simple to ensure your family is taken care of in the event you are unavailable. Set it up in just a few minutes with no extra hardware required.
Casa Inheritance is a simple process where your Recipient gets a free Casa account. If you pass away, they initiate a vault access request in the Casa app. After 6 months with no action from you, your Recipient will be able to access and use the keys you shared with them.
All of this is possible without your Recipient needing to use a hardware wallet. Get hardware wallet-level security in life, and simple hardware-less access to your 3 key vault if you pass away.
Casa Inheritance is available globally, with no KYC required.

November 18, 2021 Update
Save your place in line. Users can now set custom fees to better control how soon transactions are confirmed on-chain.
To prepare for tax season, users can now download a .CSV of their BTC transactions directly from the app.
Go minimalist: users can deactivate subaccounts with a zero balance, and the deactivated subaccounts won't count against the total accounts in your plan.
November 5, 2021 Update
This update provides Premium users with a commonly requested feature: the ability to access a Basic Multisig 2-of-3 keyset in addition to their 3-of-5 Key Shield. This allows you to manage your funds more conveniently in a range of security levels. To set up your 2-of-3 keyset, Platinum and Diamond users can go to the Settings tab and enable Display Basic Multisig.
This update also adds the ability to open "bitcoin:" URLs provided by other apps and web browsers, making it much simpler to pay with Bitcoin using Casa App.
October 6, 2021 Update
🤳Introducing QR Code Signing with Keystone
Casa clients can now implement Keystone wallets as hardware keys in their Gold, Platinum, and Diamond plans. This integration allows users to sign QR code transactions straight from their multisig wallet for a simple payment experience.

Clients can install a Bitcoin-only firmware onto their wallet, which includes Casa Mode and built-in multisig settings, such as the ability to perform Health Checks while maintaining an air gap.
September 21, 2021 Update
Casa Diamond customers now have access to our new Concierge experience within Casa App. Within the new tab, it’s easier than ever for Diamond customers to get in touch with a Client Advisor throughout our extended working hours. You can now call us directly with one tap from the Concierge tab—no need to schedule an appointment for a future date or use the Emergency Line.

Within the new Concierge tab, you can still initiate an Emergency Lockdown, contact us via your emergency line, or message us for non-urgent needs.
August 25, 2021 Update
🚨 Emergency Lockdown
Casa Gold users now have access to the Emergency Lockdown feature. You can use Emergency Lockdown to completely lock down your Casa App in emergencies.

To use it, just tap the big red button on your ‘Help’ tab and tap again to confirm.
👉 Here's what it does:
You are immediately logged out.
Your Casa account is locked for 72 hours—you can’t log in during this time and Casa won’t be able to restore your access.
After 72 hours, the lockdown lifts automatically and you can log back in.
🚨 When to use it: This feature is designed to help keep your funds safe in emergencies. Initiating Emergency Lockdown makes it impossible for an attacker to force you to open your app, reveal your balance, or initiate a transaction. Some users may wish to enable this feature as a precaution before traveling.
For full info, check out our help center article.
July 27, 2021 Update
💸 Refer-a-Friend
You can now earn up to $250 in Casa Credit for you and your friends when you introduce them to Casa! It’s the best referral perk in Bitcoin.

To share Casa with a friend:
Open your Casa App and head to your Account page
Tap Refer-a-Friend
Have your friends sign up using your unique referral link

When your friends sign up using your referral link, they’ll get a discount on the first year of their Casa Gold, Platinum or Diamond membership. You’ll get that same discount applied to your next Casa renewal or upgrade.
Please note that Casa’s Refer-a-Friend program is only available to Casa Gold, Platinum, and Diamond members. Check out our help center for full info.

Check out our help center for full info.
May 26, 2021 Update
🔄 Resetting your Basic Multisig Security Questions
Casa Gold users can now update the security questions you use to access the Casa Recovery Key.
To update your questions:
Tap on your Recovery Key
Tap Change Recovery Questions
Follow the instructions to verify that you control the other two keys in your wallet, so we know it’s really you making the request

You can now select new questions the exact same way you selected your original questions when you first created your account. Decide you don’t want to change your questions? You can cancel anytime.
⚠️ A few important notes:
You’ll verify your two keys simply by performing health checks. Verifying your identity and intent in this way using your keys allows us to protect your privacy.
For added protection, there’s a 72 hour countdown on security question resets. If you decide not to go through with the update, the process will cancel automatically once the countdown reaches zero.
If you don’t have your two keys available you won’t be able to reset your security questions. If you’ve lost one of your keys, you’ll need to replace it and then verify both keys before you can reset your questions.
April 15, 2021 Update
Today we've launched two major releases that make is safer and easier to protect your bitcoin:
Subaccounts - You can now safely (and privately) manage distinct pools of Bitcoin for yourself, your family, your business, and more.
App Redesign - Casa App is now more intuitive and beautiful.
🔐 Subaccounts
Subaccounts let you easily manage separate pools of coins. Here are a few reasons why you might wish to do this:
You have bitcoin owned by different legal entities and need to keep those separate for tax reasons
You’re HODLing for different goals or different people (e.g. your children), and want to track these balances individually
You’ve earned some BTC by mining or selling goods and services, and don’t want to mix those coins with coins you’ve bought on an exchange
How to add a subaccount:
Swipe up on your multisig keyset
Tap the “+” button (if you’ve done a Key Rotation in the past, you’ll need to tap “...” first)
Give your subaccount a name (you can change this later)

Congrats! You’ve now got a brand new subaccount.
It’s managed by the same keys as your primary account. However, all the bitcoin you transfer into this subaccount will be kept entirely separate from the bitcoin held in your other subaccounts.
Casa App never mixes these funds together. This means that as long as you don’t send bitcoin between your subaccounts, they will always appear totally unrelated to the outside world. With subaccounts, you also can create and sign multiple outgoing transactions at the same time (1 per subaccount).
For more on subaccounts, check out our Help Center.

🎨 App Redesign
We’ve also launched the single biggest design upgrade in Casa's 3-year history.
We’ve streamlined navigation, removed the ‘Assets’ tab, and added tons of updates to make your experience even more polished.

To send/receive bitcoin, view transactions, or manage your subaccounts, just swipe up. We’ve also made it smoother to flip between keysets by swiping right or left.
For Casa Diamond, which allows you to include your family members, colleagues, or personal team, we’ve added a ‘Teams’ tab for your key managers to quickly view and sign transactions.

March 24, 2021 Update
📈 Significant increase to bitcoin purchase limits
You can now buy way more bitcoin with your Casa account. Here are the new limits for bank account purchases:
$25,000 per week / per order
$50,000 per month
$75,000 per 60 days
$250,000 per year
This increase only applies only to bitcoin purchased with your bank account (currently limited to US customers). If you’re based outside the US, Apple Pay purchases are supported in 30+ countries (full list here). Both fees and quotes run higher on Apple Pay because of chargeback risk.
February 17, 2021 Update
Hot on the trail of our recent fundraising announcement, we’re excited to announce another salvo of product improvements!
Signing with your hardware wallet no longer requires email - so you can safely sign multi-signature transactions without depending on email
Update your default currency - view your Bitcoin balance in USD, GBP, EUR, AUD, or CAD
Create bitcoin invoices - to request bitcoin payments with specific amounts
Health Checks for Gold Security Questions - Casa Gold users can now do Health Checks on their recovery questions
📭 Signing with your hardware wallet no longer requires email
As a refresher: to sign a multi-signature transaction with your Trezor, Ledger, or Coldcard, Casa users follow these 3 steps:
Tap in your Casa App to send yourself an email with a signing link
Open the link on your computer
Connect your hardware wallet and sign
But what if your email service is temporarily down? Or what if Casa’s email service is experiencing a delay?
At Casa, we’re constantly focused on eliminating SPOF (Single Points of Failure).
So even though we’ve had over 99.998% service uptime over the past year, we never want anything (including our email service, or yours), to prevent you from completing a transaction when you need to.
That’s why we’ve removed this email dependency.
Now, if your email isn’t showing up, just double-tap ‘I Didn’t Get The Email.’

This will open up a share sheet giving you direct access to the signing link, which you can open on your computer to sign the transaction. Think of it as a mini-’Plan B’ in case there’s ever an email disruption.
🍏 Pro-tip: Using an iPhone + Mac? Use AirDrop. You can beam the signing link instantly from your iPhone to your Mac. It’s so fast and so smooth that it’s become our preferred way to sign all transactions (even when email is working perfectly).
🌍 Update your default currency
We now support these currencies and will be adding more in 2021:
🇺🇸 USD
💶 EUR
🇬🇧 GBP
🇦🇺 AUD
🇨🇦 CAD
To update your currency, head to Settings and tap Default Currency.

🧾 Create bitcoin invoices
You can now create an invoice in a breeze with your Casa App.
To create an invoice:
Tap ‘Receive’ and hit the ‘...’ icon
Enter receive amount
Tap ‘Generate Invoice’
Invoices show up as QR codes. Show this QR code to your friend (or client) and, as soon as they scan it with their Bitcoin wallet, their wallet will create a transaction to you in the amount you entered.

✅ Health Checks for Gold Security Questions
Casa Gold clients can now perform Health Checks on their security question.
To perform a Health Check, tap into your ‘Recovery Key’ and then tap ‘Verify Recovery Questions.’

For more info on the Casa Recovery Key, check out this post: What you need to know about the Casa Recovery Key.
January 21, 2021 Update
Transaction memos - so you can label your individual transactions
Encrypted mobile key backups - for added security and to make it easy to switch between Android and iOS

Adding a transaction memo takes just a few seconds.
📝 Transaction memos
Now you can add a memo to every Bitcoin transaction you send or receive though your Casa App. It’s great for staying organized and keeping track of details like cost basis. To add a memo, all you need to do is:
Tap into any transaction
Tap ‘Add’
Then enter any text you want (including emojis) and hit ‘Save’
You can add a memo anytime you’re sending a new transaction and can edit a memo as many times as you want. Memo previews will show up when you’re signing a multisig transaction and also in your full transaction history.
A note on privacy - Memos are encrypted and never touch the Bitcoin blockchain. Still, as a precaution we don’t recommend putting sensitive info in them (such as your name, or any Personal Identifiable Information- PII).
Coin control at Casa - As a reminder, if you want to send bitcoin *only* from a specific address, just tap the ‘Send From’ button to select the address (or addresses) you want to send from. We’re hard at work on some major improvements to make it easier and safer for you to organize your coins with Casa. Transaction memos are just the first part of this. So stay tuned!

📱 Encrypted mobile key backups
We’ve also added the ability for you to export, import, and back up any mobile Bitcoin key you create through your Casa App via encrypted QR Code Backups.
This has two key benefits:
It’s now possible to transfer your mobile keys between iOS and Android. This makes switching your mobile OS easier.
Security-conscious users now have the option for more redundant backups.
Switching between iOS and Android
If you’re upgrading your iPhone, or moving from an old Android phone to a newer model, your mobile keys will always restore automatically to your new device.
But since Casa uses OS-specific clouds (iCloud for iOS, Google Drive for Android) to store encrypted backups, restoring your key is not possible if you’re switching your mobile OS. This update changes that.
To export from your old phone
Tap into your key and head to the ‘Import or Export Backup’ menu
Hit ‘Export’ to display your encrypted QR Code Backup

Your QR Code Backup is encrypted and only your Casa account can unlock it.
To import to your new phone
Head into the key on your new device and tap ‘Import’
Scan the new QR code
Your key will restore safely and instantly on your new device

Mobile Bitcoin keys can be restored instantly via QR code.
👉 This QR Code Backup is encrypted and only your Casa account can unlock it. If another Casa client tried to scan this QR code it would fail. No other app or Bitcoin wallet will be able to decrypt it.
More redundant backups
You can also download a PDF containing your QR Code Backup. This is great for users who want an extra level of redundancy in the rare, but not impossible, event that the encrypted cloud backup of their key is lost or corrupted, or for Android users who opt out of storing a backup with Google Drive.
For users storing lots of bitcoin in their single-key Casa Wallet, we recommend keeping a copy of this PDF.
To download a PDF
Head back to the ‘Import or Export Backup’ menu
Hit ‘Export’
Tap ‘Export PDF’ to download your PDF
Be sure to check out our help center for best practices on how to keep it safe.
👉 Because this backup can only be decrypted by your Casa App (and only by you), restoring from a QR Code Backup means you’re relying on Casa. If you ever need to recover your Bitcoin mobile key independently from Casa, we make it easy for you to export your seed phrase at any time (even if you’re offline) and restore it to another wallet like Electrum, using our step-by-step Sovereign Recovery Guide (walletsrecovery.org).
